About the Manitoba Triathlon Centre
The MTC offers training for youth, junior, and U23 (under 23 years of age) athletes looking to develop their triathlon skills and compete at an elite level. Individualized workouts for the program are planned and led by Head Coach, Gary Pallett. His guidance has helped athletes achieve success on a provincial, national, and international level – including at the Olympic and Paralympic level.
Training locations vary throughout the year. In general, during the fall, winter and early spring, all athletes who live in Winnipeg train for biking and running at the Max Bell Arena at the University of Manitoba. For swimming, athletes train at either Joyce Fromson Pool, University of Manitoba or the Pan Am Pool.
In the late spring through the summer, training takes athletes outside and into Birds Hill Provincial Park.

RegisterHistory of the April Run Series
The April Run Series is one of the longest running race series in Manitoba and is known for being the spring ‘kick-off’ for the Manitoba Road Running season. Participants can choose from a variety of distances and can run one race or all three. Those who choose to run all 3 weeks can earn points towards one of the 3 Race Series.
In 2018, Triathlon Manitoba with the Manitoba Running Association chose to rename the series after the original and long term Race Director, Patrick Riddell, who most Manitoba runners will remember for his tireless volunteer efforts on numerous boards and committees, and his dedication and commitment to Sport in Manitoba. He was particularly interested in youth involvement in sport and was inducted into the Manitoba Runners Hall of Fame in 2011. Pat passed away in September 2017, and we are honored to rename the April Run Series in his memory.
We are proud to have been selected by the Manitoba Runners Association to have our 5K, 10K and 15K races included the 2019 Classic Race Series, and our 2K and 5K races in the 2018 Youth Series.
The Series

- 5km Series: Complete 5km each week
- Fun Run Series: Complete 2km each week
