Unfortunate, but understandable news today
World Triathlon’s Announcement today confirms the cancellation of Age-Group events at WTS Edmonton in 2021, while Almere has cancelled Aquathlon, Cross-Tri and both Duathlon events in 2021. There is good news as the Long-Distance and Aquabike events will still take place.
Check the press release for full details.
No instructions have yet been given for qualified athletes whose races won’t happen in 2021, but given how few qualifier events are taking place, we’re hopeful spots might roll over again.
UPDATE – Edmonton Organizers still hoping to host AG event for Canadian athletes (just not the rest of the World).

Two important points from that release:
– “World Triathlon is still trying to find an alternate location for these races later in the year outside of Canada”
– “World Triathlon Series Edmonton is putting plans together in an effort to stage a standard and sprint distance community age group race. The local organizing committee is welcoming all Canadian age group athletes to participate. We will provide complete details in mid-June with the goal of still providing a race opportunity for you, while supporting the men’s and women’s Grand Final of the World Triathlon Championship Series”
