SUMMARY:Rural Development Swim Clinic – Selkirk
DESCRIPTION:Triathlon Manitoba is excited to host our second Rural Development Clinic in Selkirk\, Manitoba. This new series is designed to bring high-quality coaching and learning opportunities to rural communities. The swim clinic is ideal for athletes who want to improve their swim technique in a supportive and structured environment. \nDates & Times: \nSunday\, November 23\, 2025 – 9:30 am to 2:00 pm – four hours total: \n\n2 hours of pool time focusing on drills\, skills\, and stroke efficiency\n2 hours in the classroom reviewing video feedback and key swim technique concepts\n\nLead Instructor: \nThe Rural Swim Clinics will be lead by Christine McKinley.  During the last two seasons\, Christine has coached Triathlon Manitoba’s Intro to Triathlon Swim and Swim Stroke Development programs\, helping athletes achieve greater confidence and performance in the water.  She also won the 2024 Coach of the Year award for her work with the Just Tri It program.  When she’s not coaching\, Christine races at the professional level at IM 70.3 events and previously won the Canadian Master’s Champion for the 800m and 1500m freestyle events – so she knows how to go fast efficiently! \nCourse Overview\nThe clinic combines practical swim instruction with classroom-based video review: \n\n\nHands-on swim drills and stroke efficiency exercises \n\n\nReview of key swim skills and technique videos \n\n\nVideo feedback on individual technique \n\n\nPersonalized coaching feedback in a small group setting \n\n\n\nLearning Outcomes\nBy the end of the clinic\, participants will be able to: \n\n\nImprove stroke mechanics and swimming efficiency \n\n\nIdentify areas for continued skill development \n\n\nApply practical drills and techniques in their own training \n\n\nGain confidence and knowledge to swim more effectively \n\n\nREGISTER \nNOTE – While this program will help athletes develop better swim technique\, it’s not intended to be a learn-to-swim program.  All athletes should be able to comfortably complete 100m of steady swimming (enough to access the deep end in most MB pools) before beginning the program. \n\n
