As our province continues efforts to lessen the spread of COVID-19, this week sees the announcements of our first race cancellations, as well as continued program cancellations.
The Birds Hill Duathlon in the Park Series (Tuesdays in May), Grand Valley Duathlon (June 7) and Triple Threat Triathlon & Kids of Steel (June 13/14) have all taken the decision to cancel their 2020 events. We appreciate that these were difficult decisions for the race organizers to take, but fully support these cancellations as the only appropriate option given our current public health emergency.
Triathlon Manitoba has also taken the decision to cancel the Kids Clinic and the Duathlon Portion of the Kids Multisport Program, both were scheduled for May. Our Swim Program will remain suspended until further notice (Pan Am pool remains closed)
We will continue to update our Race Calendar, as well as our summer Kids Programming and August’s Manitoba Summer Games as the season progresses. It is our hope that some events will still be able to continue, but only if they can be run with no additional risk to public health.
