Yesterday’s Press Release announced an extension of strict Public Health Orders.
At that time, Premier Pallister and Dr. Roussin both asked at that press conference for Manitobans to stay home as much as possible, with Dr. Roussin stating “The public health orders outline what we need to do. We need to stay home and work from home if possible, and only go out for essential items when absolutely necessary.”
Those statements resulted in many questions from our members, effectively asking “Am I still allowed to train?”
Today the updated Public Health Orders were officially released and they make it clear outdoor training is still permitted, specifically stating:
15(3) Persons may engage in any type of outdoor sporting or recreational activity but they must not engage in an activity with a person who does not live at their private residence.
While this is welcome news for the mental health of our members, it’s clear we still must do everything we can to reduce the risk of covid-19 transmission, as well as any other risks during our training. A crash on the bike or fall when running will still tax our health care system which is already near it’s breaking point.
Train smart and train safely.
