2026 Kids Program – Fall & Winter
Train like a Triathlete Year-Round!
Our Kids Fall & Winter Program is designed for athletes who want to grow their fitness, develop strength in swimming, biking, and running, while building confidence in a supportive team environment.
The program runs from October to April, and is targeted at youth aged 8 –15 years (born 2010–2018), to develop fitness and strength for all three sports.
Saturday sessions are designed for all athletes and take place at the Pan Am Pool from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Begin with a run fitness workout, followed by swim training in the pool.
Registration for Saturday-only sessions is $200 for six months.
Annika Niblock and Darian Hole will continue as our program coaches.
Annika is a graduate of the TriMB Youth & MTC Programs, competed in triathlon at the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games, and is currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Studies at the University of Manitoba. Darian is a former MTC athlete, having competed as part of Team Manitoba at the 2013 Canada Summer Games, and he brings a wealth of experience from his years in the sport.
Our coaches are keen to help the next generation of athletes fall in love with triathlon by sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm for our sport.
NOTE – While this program will help athletes develop better swim technique, it’s not intended to be a learn-to-swim program. All athletes should be able to comfortably complete 100m of steady swimming (enough to access the deep end in most local pools) before beginning the program.
A 2026 Triathlon Season membership must be purchased with each Kids Program Registration, which provides insurance for all workout participants, as well as a racing licence for the season ahead. The Kids of Steel memberships are $15, plus CCN processing fees.
The video below gives a great idea of what to expect at our Kids Programs.

Just Tri It Program
Fun, fitness and friendship!
‘Tri’ something new with a fun and positive group of women. Improve your physical and mental well-being in a social setting while we train together for the St. Malo Triathlon (Try-a-Tri distance) on June 27th, 2026.
The Just Tri-It (JTI) program is an encouraging and supportive group that wants to help you lead a fun, healthy life. Our program is based on the highly successful Saskatoon program that has introduced hundreds of women, just like yourself, to triathlon over the past 20 years. You do not need to be an athlete – you just need the courage to ‘Tri’ it! Not a swimmer, cyclist, or runner? You are perfect for this program. ALL shapes and abilities are welcome. Just bring your positive I’ll Tri It attitude.
Meet new friends or convince your co-worker, friend, sister, or mom to join you. Spots are limited to ensure everyone has lots of support from our coaches – so register early!
This 11-week program runs from April 14th to June 27th and includes:
- Our YMCA Downtown group will swim Sundays 2-3pm. This group will have more coaches on deck and is best suited for novice and intermediate swimmers.
- Our PanAm group will swim with the TriMB swim program on either Monday or Wednesday (participant choice), 8-9pm. This group is best for those looking for stroke refinement and endurance building.
- Both groups will join together in our last 3 weeks for our open water training. Wednesday, June 10, 8-9pm at PanAm Pool, and Monday June 15 & 22, 6:30-7:30pm at Birds Hill Park.
Weekly speaker sessions to keep you motivated and educated along the way
Speaker sessions will generally occur on Thursday, prior to our run sessions, but bike specific talks may be scheduled with those workouts instead.
Speaker talks will be recorded and available to those who miss a session.

2026 Officials Clinic
Kids Triathlon – May Clinics
Kids Triathlon Clinics
Get ready for the season with our Kids Triathlon Clinics, a fun and active introduction to the key skills of triathlon.
These clinics are designed to help young athletes build confidence and learn the fundamentals of swimming, biking, running, and how to move between them in transition. Each session will include a mix of skill development, movement-based games, and hands-on practice in a supportive group environment. Whether your child is brand new to triathlon or looking to sharpen their skills ahead of the summer races, this is a great place to start.
The clinic runs every Saturday in May (May 2–May 30) from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Each session will begin at Pan Am Pool, where we’ll focus on swim skills, so please bring a bathing suit and towel. After swimming, we’ll head to the Grant Park track to work on cycling, running, or combined bike/run skills. We will let you know in advance which sessions require bringing a bike. In the event of poor weather, we will remain at Pan Am and use the indoor track.
This is a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet other young athletes, and build confidence heading into the triathlon season.
Membership Requirement
A 2026 Triathlon Season membership must be purchased with each Kids Program Registration, which provides insurance for all workout participants, as well as a racing licence for the season ahead. The Kids of Steel memberships are $15, plus CCN processing fees.

For 2026, we’ve split our clinic into two sessions – one focused on bike & run and a second focused on open water swims. Part 1b – Duathlon – May 26th

NOTE – When travelling to the Peace Garden, you DO NOT enter the United States, nor do you deal with US Customs and Border Protection. The Peace Garden exists between the two border controls, similar to a duty free area, so you will require a passport or other ID for the Canadian border control on your way home, but you do not enter the United States or deal with their agents at any time.
Two days of great racing in a venue that’s perfect for triathlon.
Day 1 features the Mixed Relay, which has been one of the most enjoyable additions to Triathlon in ages – if you haven’t tried one, you’re missing out. The race involves four racers, each doing a shorter swim/bike/run race, then handing off to the next member of their team. Here’s what it looks like for Triathlon – also note the bonus points for Tyler’s greatest beach dive of all time!*
What makes it better still at the Peace Garden? You get to choose your team – family, friends, fastest people you know or funniest people you know, pick the team you want to be on. The course distance for each relay leg is suitable for ages 12 and up, so even younger families can compete. One of you doesn’t swim – that’s fine too, just get someone else to swim twice. Four little triathlons, however you want to do it – that’s the Peace Garden Mixed Relay!
“Won’t Someone Think of the Children!”
The mixed relay course is a similar distance to those used for 12 & older Kids of Steel races. The course features a challenging bike and deep water swim, so it’s not a course we’d recommend for a younger athlete’s first triathlon participation, but most athletes that age or older should be comfortable competing.
“Day Two – This Time It’s Personal”
Day two features individual racing, with triathlon and duathlon options, over the Sprint or Olympic distances. You’ll know the swim, bike and run terrain quite well from hopefully having raced the day prior, which means you can enjoy the challenge of a few more km in this beautiful venue and maybe even push yourself to a new level.
However you choose to participate, we’re sure you won’t find a better way to spend August long weekend than racing and playing the International Peace Garden.

This year’s Sprint Triathlon events will be the Provincial Championship as well as a World Qualifier event, as will the Mixed Relay, where the top age group female and male athletes can make their way onto the Canadian Age Group World Championship Team, for the 2027 World Triathlon Championship Final held in Hamburg, Germany.
To be eligible for World Championship Qualification in any of these events, you must hold a Triathlon Manitoba Annual Membership and complete an Expression of Interest PRIOR to the event on August 2nd.
A link will be added here to Submit an EOI 3 weeks before Race day

** – That’s a professional athlete on a closed course. Do NOT try that at home!
