Board of Directors Autumn 2023 Update

As we kicked off 2023 the Triathlon Manitoba Board provided a quick view into what we were focused on for the Triathlon year!

In summary,

  • Increased engagement
  • The right structure for highest performance growth
  • A strong technical community, and
  • Improved organization effectiveness within Triathlon MB

As we conclude our season we wanted to share with you some updates and key work in flight.

The year was truly spectacular with many winter/spring events before our prime triathlon season in province.

  • Winnipeg Indoor Tri – 64
  • Patrick Riddell April Run Series – 615
  • Bird’s Hill Duathlon in the Park Series – 235
  • Intro to Tri Clinic – 22
  • Triple Threat Tri & Kids of Steel – 136 & 38
  • Malo Tri & Kids of Steel – 257 & 79
  • Hecla Tri & many other Races – 176
  • Peace Gardens Tri & Kids of Steel – 90 & 11
  • Riding Mountain Tri & Kids of Steel – 404 & 140

 

Highlights:

  • Year over year event participation was up 25%! A huge thank to everyone who played an integral role – Triathletes, Clubs, Event Organizers, Volunteers, Officials, Supporters, Sponsors, Event Host Parks and last but NOT least our Triathlon MB Executive Director!
  • Expanded promotion of our sport to large sporting events to increase awareness – MB Marathon
  • Leveraged our content library to drive engaging social media campaigns and other marketing
  • Introduced our inaugural Provincial Championship races – Sprint, Olympic, Long Course coinciding with World Qualifying races
  • Continued use of resources, athlete testing, and training opportunities to deliver a best in class high performance program; this included participation in a national training camp in Victoria, BC
  • Focused on coaching support and training, including augmenting coaching for the Kids program to build the base of youth in the sport
  • Qualification events for 2024 Manitoba Summer Games started this past summer targeting youth ages 10-15. Additional qualifying events and awareness will continue into 2024 across regions.
  • Kids windup event to cap off the summer training season
  • Restarting the kids endurance multisport program in 2024 – Speed Skating, Cross-Country Skiing, Mountain Biking, and Duathlon
  • Adult Learn to Swim Program will be launched in 2024 to help onboard new people into the sport
