As a measure to limit the potential spread of corona virus (covid-19) and in keeping with the Province of Manitoba’s declared state of emergency, including the “immediate closures of all … gyms, fitness centres and athletic clubs and training facilities”, Triathlon Manitoba has suspended all events and programming.
This includes:
- Adult Swim Program
- Kids Program
- Patrick Riddell April Run Series
- MTC Training
- Multisport Program, Mountain Bike portion
- Training by sanctioned clubs
These programs will be suspended until at least April 30th, in support of similar decisions by Triathlon Canada and the ITU. Our organization will re-evaluate this suspension during that time, with further announcements expected, based on availability of facilities and a review by our local authorities of how well our communities have done in our combined efforts to reduce the virus’ spread.
March 19 community update from Triathlon Canada
Similarly, the respective race organizers have taken the decision to suspend registration for the May Duathlon in the Park series, as well as the St.Malo Triathlon & St.Malo Kids of Steel events in June. Registration for these events will re-open at the organizers decision, should it becomes clear the events can proceed safely.
Additional information about the virus is available from the Public Health Agency of Canada and Province of Manitoba Health
Thank you for your understanding as we all try to do what we can to flatten the curve.
