Back to Back Wins at WTC Huatulco for Tyler in Final Tokyo Prep
Saturday’s World Triathlon Cup event in Huatulco, Mexico offered Oak Bluff’s Tyler Mislawchuk one last chance to check his race fitness before next month’s Olympic Games in Tokyo.
After 19 months away from racing, and 14 months away from home, Tyler returned to racing last month in Lisbon… only to get a flat on the bike and fall out of contention. This past weekend in Mexico, everything went to plan and Tyler was able to reap the rewards of his efforts and those of his support team:
“I’m over the moon,” said Mislawchuk. “I worked my socks off, Matt Sharpe and I wanted to control the race and rip a quick run. I’ve trained so hard over the last 18 months, we emptied our souls training in Hawaii and I’ve not been home in 14 months, living out of a suitcase. I dedicate my life to this and everything goes into this.”
The seven-minute video below does a great job of highlighting that outstanding effort, Tyler’s devastating run stride and a great post-race interview.
