Peace Garden Triathlon

August 2 - August 3

The best course in Manitoba isn’t actually in Manitoba

If you haven’t yet been out to the Peace Garden event, you’re missing something truly special.  Triathlon takes over the Garden for one weekend a year, with participants enjoying the most amazing triathlon playground you could imagine.  Even the campground is a dream, or there are the dorms which will be full of other triathletes to hang out with all weekend.

Need more convincing?  Check out Photos from previous years.

NOTEWhen travelling to the Peace Garden, you DO NOT enter the United States, nor do you deal with US Customs and Border Protection.  The Peace Garden exists between the two border controls, similar to a duty free area, so you will require a passport or other ID for the Canadian border control on your way home, but you do not enter the United States or deal with their agents at any time.

Two days of great racing in a venue that’s perfect for triathlon.

Day 1 features the Mixed Relay, which has been one of the most enjoyable additions to Triathlon in ages – if you haven’t tried one, you’re missing out.  The race involves four racers, each doing a shorter swim/bike/run race, then handing off to the next member of their team.  Here’s what it looks like for Triathlon – also note the bonus points for Tyler’s greatest beach dive of all time!*

What makes it better still at the Peace Garden?  You get to choose your team – family, friends, fastest people you know or funniest people you know, pick the team you want to be on.  The course distance for each relay leg is suitable for ages 12 and up, so even younger families can compete.  One of you doesn’t swim – that’s fine too, just get someone else to swim twice.  Four little triathlons, however you want to do it – that’s the Peace Garden Mixed Relay!

“Won’t Someone Think of the Children!”

The mixed relay course is a similar distance to those used for 12 & older Kids of Steel races.  The course features a challenging bike and deep water swim, so it’s not a course we’d recommend for a younger athlete’s first triathlon participation, but most athletes that age or older should be comfortable competing.

“Day Two – This Time It’s Personal”

Day two features individual racing, with triathlon and duathlon options, over the Sprint or Olympic distances.  You’ll know the swim, bike and run terrain quite well from hopefully having raced the day prior, which means you can enjoy the challenge of a few more km in this beautiful venue and maybe even push yourself to a new level.

However you choose to participate, we’re sure you won’t find a better way to spend August long weekend than racing and playing the International Peace Garden.

REGISTER

This year’s Sprint Triathlon events will be the Provincial Championship as well as a World Qualifier event, as will the Mixed Relay, where the top age group female and male athletes can make their way onto the Canadian Age Group World Championship Team, for the 2026 World Triathlon Championship Final held in Pontevedra, Spain.

To be eligible for World Championship Qualification in the Sprint Triathlon, you must hold a Triathlon Manitoba Annual Membership and complete an Expression of Interest PRIOR to the event on August 3rd.  That expression must be submitted within the three weeks prior to the event and a link to do so will be added to this page once available.

** – That’s a professional athlete on a closed course.  Do NOT try that at home!
