Edmonton hosts the Multisport World Champs in 2027, and You Qualify in 2026!
The last time North America hosted a Triathlon World Championship event will be a decade removed, and it’s been even longer since Manitobans could either drive (in a day) or fly (on one flight) to North America’s biggest race event of the decade.
One of the greatest things about triathlon – World’s is for EVERYONE
It’s always been so cool that age group athletes get to race the same courses, in the same locations, on the same weeks as the World’s best. We wouldn’t recommend trying to stop McDavid on a breakaway or posting up LeBron, but you can Tri!
Being able to test yourself on the same course as Triathlon’s Olympic heroes is something only a World Championship event can offer. In 2027, you don’t need to travel halfway around the World to do so, but you do need to race a qualifier in 2026 to claim your spot.
For 2026, Triathlon Manitoba will have DOUBLE THE SPOTS at local qualifiers
Over the past three seasons, roughly 95% of racers going for a World’s spot in Manitoba have been successful getting a spot on the team. Most qualify directly at their local race, while a few others earn the spot on a roll-down administered by Triathlon Canada at the end of the season.
With twice as many spots, what’s stopping you from racing for Team Canada?!
Here’s where you can qualify this summer:
Multisport World Championship events, qualifying for Edmonton 2027
- Sprint Duathlon – Duathlon in the Park, Race #2 – May 19
- Standard Duathlon – Duathlon in the Park, Race #3 – May 26
- Cross Triathlon – Birds Hill Triathlon – June 7
- Cross Duathlon – Birds Hill Triathlon – June 7
- Long Course Triathlon – Hecla Triathlon – July 18
- Long Course Aquabike – Hecla Triathlon – July 18
World Triathlon Championship Finals events, qualifying for Hamburg 2027
- Standard (Olympic) Triathlon – Birds Hill Triathlon – June 7
- Standard (Olympic) Aquabike – Birds Hill Triathlon – June 7
- Sprint Triathlon – Peace Garden Triathlon – August 2nd
PS – We know it’s confusing the World Champs are split into two different groups of events and take place in two places, but we’re still excited one of those is at home for 2027!
