Hecla Triathlon
2019 Hecla Triathlon
The Hecla Triathlon will take place in Hecla, Manitoba, July 20, 2019. This race started in 2015 and has continued to grow and evolve each year since, and is now home to Manitoba’s only Long Course race.
The event is popular, with an approx. 200 racers, of which we expect to have more athletes out this year to compete for their 2020 World qualifying race position on the Canadian National Team. This race won’t disappoint, with tremendous athlete support to ensure the day goes smoothly.
Why Hecla?
-
The swim course is protected by the marina, guarding from what can be an unpredictable Lake Winnipeg, and the run to T1 (~650m) will allow you to shake out your sea legs in prep for your bike.
-
The bike course is flat and fast, lock and load, and keep your eyes open for wildlife!
-
Moving onto the run, you will experience both road and trail, skirting the marina and resort, and hugging the lake.
-
This course will provide you both a physically and mentally challenging race, packed with stunning vistas all showcasing the beauty of the island.

Pinawa Triathlon **CANCELLED
The Pinawa Triathlon has been cancelled for 2019, as the organizers did not feel they could deliver the high quality event that the triathlon community has come to expect. Instead, they will work to return the event in 2020.
Here is the communication from the Pinawa Triathlon organizers:
We apologize for any inconvenience that the cancellation of this race has caused, and we would like to assure those who had registered that they will be receiving full refunds. Our hope is that with a full year ahead of us, we will be able to bring together an amazing organizing committee and full group of volunteers who will be able to plan an exciting Triathlon for Pinawa for 2020. If you are interested in being involved in the planning of the 2020 Triathlon, please contact Winnipeg River Recreation at
As noted above, the organizers have expressed they will be issuing full refunds to each registered athlete, including the processing fees that were paid when using the CCN online platform. All registered racers should receive a communication from CCN shortly to initiate that process. If you do not receive that e-mail, or if you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Winnipeg River Recreation or Triathlon Manitoba for further assistance.

Taking Aim at Tokyo – Tyler talks A-Race planning
Easily one of the most exciting moments in the 2019 Triathlon Season was seeing Tyler Mislawchuk sprint to the win at the Tokyo Test Event.
As you might assume, that outstanding performance was so much more than just a ‘good legs’ day. Tyler and Team Canada put together a near perfect plan to hit their targeted A-Race with the best possible preparation, strategy and execution.
On Saturday, December 28th, Tyler will share his story with all of us. We’ll learn how everything was planned to enable that outstanding performance, what it felt like to build towards the event, how to handle the pressure and trust the process, and then the amazing feeling when it all came together for the win. We’ll also look at how this type of planning can help you ensure your best performances occur at target races… not in training the week after them.
TriMB is keen to make this event as accessible as possible for our members, but space is limited, so we’ll charge a modest $5 fee per member to register, which between the talk and the snacks, should offer a pretty darned good value!

8:30 am Run Option – If you normally do a long-run on Saturday, why not run from the Exchange?

Routes from 5k to 12k are available, with showers available for after our run. Some exercise, a few snacks and a chance to hang out with our champ – the perfect way to start a weekend!
